Welcome to our forum Darren, glad to see that you've joined us! I've read somewhere that you're a fan of Day of the Tentacle and Phantasmagoria II (the one that started it all for me), words I've not often seen in my life, so I already like you.

I can't wait for it Looking forward to meeting Alyx. Anarosa's acting is great, in all the trailers she's showing what look like mild autism spectrum traits or traits of some neurological condition - as an Aspie woman myself there aren't enough characters that are like us, that we can relate to. We all love Saga Noren and Susan Calvin, and characters like Seven of Nine who aren't said to be but have some expressions in common with us, but it's pretty much just them!

It was Phantasmagoria II that started the FMV fascination for me too I love the whole point and click genre, with Monkey Island and Broken Sword being my absolute favourites!

I'm absolutely 110% convinced that Alyx will be the ultimate star of Dark Side. Anarosa absolutely nailed it. We had to ensure that we played the whole Aspie angle right. It had to be perfect. The last thing we wanted to be seen as doing was being disrespectful. Alyx is - in my opinion - an inspiration for us all and I genuinely can't wait for you to meet her.

Welcome to the boards Zomel! I know about Susan Calvin but can you tell me about the other people you mentioned? I love Anarosa too, especially in Contradiction!

Ey, another Asimov fan! Saga Noren is one of the protagonists of Bron (The Bridge); about two cops, one Danish, one Swedish (that's Saga) who have to work together to solve a case of a dead body found on the bridge between Denmark and Sweden. Saga is heavily implied to be autistic and the actor depicts it very well; it helps her focus hard on the case and make inferences that other people wouldn't think of, but she's incredibly driven and lacks any social grace or understanding and is brutally honest to the point of rudeness - some of these are Swedish stereotypes too, so she plays well off the easy-going Danish partner she has to work with in a sort of odd couple, buddy cop dynamic. Seven of Nine's a deprogrammed Borg drone in Star Trek: Voyager who's learning how to socialise and "be human" again; a lot of us relate to sci-fi characters because there aren't many female characters like us, and because we often feel like outsiders too, and we have to learn social and cultural norms from scratch rather than absorb them naturally, many of us really like aliens and robots. My mum (also autistic, runs in the family) was and still is a huge Spock fan!
And hi Daz!

And hi Daz! It's as if you're describing Alyx. She's exactly the same! Looks like we got it right And oh, hai Zomel!
